Rambler Angler and Blade Co., formerly Wolff Indiana, LLC, has evolved from an industrial tool supplier into a dynamic, consumer-focused outdoor brand. I was able to sit down with the man leading this charge: Caleb, a Texas-born but Carolina-raised, has one goal in mind – to shake up the fly fishing and fly tying industry. Keep an eye out because at Rambler, it’s a little bit ROWDY!
A Legacy of Precision
Since 2012, Wolff Industries has been producing high-quality vises, acquiring a scissors and vises company to enhance its offerings. Traditionally, Wolff catered to industrial clients, supplying scissors to sectors like composites, textiles, and food processing. However, recognizing a gap in the consumer market, the company launched Rambler Angler and Blade Co. to bring their expertise directly to enthusiasts.
“Our scissors are used for cutting Kevlar and carbon fiber,” Caleb explains. “We saw an opportunity to bring that same level of precision and durability to the fly fishing community.” The products speak for themselves!
Innovating for the Avid Angler
Rambler’s flagship product, the Atlas Fly Tying Vise, exemplifies this commitment to quality. Crafted from stainless steel, the Atlas Vise is designed to be a vise that can handle anything a fly tyer can throw at it and offers a lifetime of durability. I don’t know many folks who have heirloom fly tying vises, but I can promise you my kids will learn to tie flies on my Atlas!
Building on this success, Rambler has a new product, the “Nomad,” a revolutionary travel vise that combines portability with the robustness that customers expect. “We want to communicate how to use the vise effectively,” Caleb emphasizes. “It’s about empowering our customers with the right tools and knowledge.” It’s a one-of-a-kind travel vise, and is available in an array of colors – my personal favorite is the Rambler Red!
